Chronic pain relief of nerve origin including diabetes headaches

What is RF (Radio Frequency)

Chronic pain relief of nerve origin including diabetes headaches. Radio Frequency or RF treatment, first used for the treatment of pain in 1977 by Uematsu. When used by Uematsu, it was a neurablative procedure involving heating the tip of the needle above 42 degrees Celsius, causing necrosis in the affected Dorsal Root Ganglion.

In 1997 it came to light that the beneficial effect of RF was not due to heat formation. This initiated the creation of non-destructive RF, known as ‘Pulsed Radio Frequency’ in Europe and South Africa and ‘Cool Probe RF’ in the USA. Due to its non-destructive nature, pulsed radio frequency changed the way radio frequency is performed and our belief, broadened the scope of interventions for the treatment of pain tremendously.

STIMPOD NMS460 What is Neuropathic Pain

The definition of neuropathic pain is fairly straightforward. According to Mark J. Lema, M.D., Ph.D. professor of Anesthesiology and Oncology, chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, and medical director of Surgical Services at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He is also professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at the University at Buffalo State University of New York School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Lema is a past president of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

“As the name indicates, it is a ‘disease or disorder’ involving the nerve itself as the source of the pain. Neuropathic pain, however, is part of the larger syndrome of ‘neuropathy’ which is a disorder/dysfunction of peripheral nerves. Peripheral neuropathies include motor, sensory and autonomic fiber derangements that feed into the central nervous system. Central nervous system disorders occur as a result of injury, stroke, disease or congenital conditions involving the brain and/or spinal cord.” [1]

Patented Hybrid PRF Waveform:
The STIMPOD NMS460 delivers a patented Pulsed Radio Frequency (PRF) waveform that is superimposed upon the direct and low-frequency components of the current.

The combination of the stimulation probe and the patented PRF waveform allows for the treatment of neuropathies in a non-invasive manner and primarily targeting the nerve. The STIMPOD NMS460 waveform provides all the generally accepted advantageous of a normal TENS device, with the added advantageous of Pulsed Radio Frequency, all in one waveform delivered to the patient in a non-invasive manner.

Capacitive sensing interface for easy navigation:

Navigating the STIMPOD NMS460 is achieved through its advanced capacitive sensing interface. The flat navigation interface on the STIMPOD NMS460 clearly distinguishes the device from the rest of the field. Furthermore, the adjustment dial senses the presence of your finger to easily guide the current strength and navigate effortlessly through the menu options.

Transcutaneous Stimulation Probe:
The STIMPOD NMS460 features a unique ergonomically designed stimulation probe.
The stimulation point, made from biocompatible stainless steel, designed in such a way to direct the current to a particular nerve or region such as a joint or muscle that may be involved in either a neuropathic, neurogenic or nociceptive condition.

Due to the targeted nature of the probe, the nerve involved is easily identified and results in fasciculation’s along this nerve pathway.

Programmable Timer:
A fully adjustable timer will alert the user when the treatment period has expired. The timer automatically resets, ready for the next treatment.

Click here to download your free copy of the second edition of Introduction to NMS460, written by Phyllis Berger. This book covers the differences between the STIMPOD NMS460 and other pain modulating electrical currents, principles of treatment, several case histories as well as a guide to the treatment methodologies.

A completely new chapter was added for this 2nd edition dedicated to the available publications that reflect the present research, along with several additions to the existing chapters.
